Playlist – My top 100

I spend an awful lot of time putting together playlists, so though I should start sharing some of them here on the blog, starting in the most obvious place.

This is one of those playlists that does exactly what it says on the tin, simply my 100 favourite songs of all time as of right now. It covers almost every genre I love, soul, pop, techno, indie, punk, post-punk, country, folk, blues, jazz and more. Even my brief emo phase gets a look in.

Like all such lists it is incredibly subjective. There are some songs which would be always be on the list (Robert Wyatt, Miles Davis, Pixies, Nina Simone), and some which float around the edges and might not have made the cut on a different day. Each and every one is a song that I love deeply though, and combined they give a pretty good sense of my musical taste and how it has evolved over the years.

The songs cover the 1920s right through the 2020s, and appropriately enough I discovered a lot of these songs in my twenties, the decade when I had both enough free time to listen to a lot of music and enough disposable income (with few responsibilities) to buy records. Hope you enjoy as much as I have.

Apple Music and Spotify versions below, as well as link to tunemymusic.com where you can convert to any streaming service of your choice. Please note Spotify version only includes 98 songs as Joanna Newsom is not streaming there.
