I’ve decided to start keeping a monthly music diary, more for my own purposes than anything else, so I can remember what has been going on in my musical world. It’ll include a playlist of the songs I’ve been enjoying this month, as well as my reflections on my, and the wider, musical world.
Another short one this month. As we moved house right at the end of the August, September has been mainly spent getting the new house set up, and not a lot of time for listening to music. I have had music on of course, but maybe not taking it in quite as much as usual.
A lot of my focus has been on music of the 2020s, for a music challenge on BlueSky, which has been a nice opportunity to rediscover some old favourites from the last few years, as well as a couple of new discoveries from last month’s Manchester Psych Fest in Anna Erhard and Joshua Idehen.
A particular favourite has Beyond the Horizon by Idiots, a South Korean punk band. It’s one of those tracks which gets better and better each time you hear it, and I have been very happy to find and fall in love with it all over again
As usual, a playlist of the favourite things I have been lsitening to this month, albeit much shorter than usual, can be found here:
